AUDITION FOR DCDC
Thank you for your interest in the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. We are using an online submission process to secure dance artists for the 2021 - 2022 season. Submissions received during this time will be considered for open positions throughout our artistic structure. This includes: First Company Men, JB Fellows (1 year paid apprenticeships) and open positions for our Second Company (pre-professional ensemble unpaid). We appreciate you taking time to submit your application for our annual open audition.
Our online audition process has four steps:
STEP ONE Online application (Due via google forms by May 15th at midnight)

A complete audition application includes:
1. Personal information (Name, address, date of birth, etc.)
2. Headshot (.jpg)
3. Full body shot (.jpg)
4. 1 -2 page resume (pertinent information, artistic work history, admin. experience only)
5. A vimeo/youtube link to your performance reel (5-7 minutes). Do not use passwords. If you don’t have an existing reel, please record yourself doing a contemporary movement phrase of your choosing. We understand that during these times you may not be able to access your performance videos or computer equipment. Don’t be afraid to use your phone/tablet to record. We just want to see you move!
6. Learn and submit a video of yourself doing the DCDC Repertory Phrases from the video below. Make sure we can see your entire body in frame.
STEP TWO FIRST SET OF CALLBACKS
After you complete the online application, the DCDC artistic team will review files and EMAIL an invite to the next round of the process. Those who aren’t chosen to move forward will also be emailed. In person callbacks will be held for men only.
STEP THREE SECOND SET OF CALLBACKS
After the initial application submission, you may be invited to digital callbacks. The second set of callbacks will take place via zoom on. The format of the audition will be similar to a studio audition. Those who are invited to the second set of callbacks will be informed via email and given more details at that time. We understand that you may have limited space and it’s ok. We will structure everything to be done with consideration of small spaces. We also know that you might not be alone (i.e. housemates, family and fur friends). We will pace ourselves through this audition process with as much patience and care as possible. Again, we appreciate you taking the time to submit to this process during the difficult times of the current global health crisis.
STEP FOUR INVITED IN PERSON CALLBACKS/FOLLOW UP INTERVIEWS
Men who are chosen for In Person Callbacks will be invited to the DCDC studios to audition in June
The Company Manager will hold follow up interviews with those individuals selected from the second set of callbacks. Those who are invited to the interviews will be informed via email and given more details at that time.
