Vantage Points is an exploration of the various approaches to the creation of contemporary dance. Your program will feature a selection of works by leading and emerging choreographers for an evening of contemporary dance that will enthrall and captivate your audience.
Brief vignettes or recordings between each piece will educate the audience on an element of each work. Featured choreographers include Donald McKayle, Donald Byrd, Ronen Koresh, and Ray Mercer. Click here to see available works.
In this dance imagination of African American playwrights, award-winning choreographers draw inspiration from prominent works including Adrienne Kennedy’s Funnyhouse of a Negro, Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls, August Wilson’s Fences, Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop, Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God and James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner.
Designed for a variety of spaces & venues, the multimedia work features live readings, audio interviews, news recordings & projected images to explore race, gender, spirituality & love, and includes a post-concert discussion. Requires projection capabilities.

Featuring the exquisite choreography of Cleveland, Ohio native Dianne McIntyre, Lyric Fire: Dunbar in Motion puts into physical motion the poetry of Dayton, Ohio’s own Paul Laurence Dunbar, the first African-American poet to achieve international fame.
Performed in period costume, the dance paints a moving and vibrant picture of the poet’s life during the late 1800s.
